As a Pilates instructor, Elise’s approach is grounded in efficiency, developmental movement pathways, and dynamic alignment. She strives to make Pilates accessible by moving at a pace that is right for every individual. Ultimately, her goal is to nurture, guide, and empower her clients both in the studio and in life.
Elise graduated summa cum laude from Texas Christian University where she received a BFA in modern dance as an honors scholar. While under the high demands of performing and choreographing, she found many physical and mental benefits of actively practicing Pilates. She studied under the direction of Susan Douglas-Roberts, Sarah Newton, and Laura West Strawser. After graduation, she moved to St. Louis to dance professionally and to pursue a comprehensive certification in Pilates through Balanced Body. Upon completion, she began working at local studios and gyms, teaching private and group classes on the mat, reformer, tower, and chair. Through Pilates on Tour, Elise has studied under renowned Pilates instructors including Marie-Jose Blom, Karen Clippinger, Elizabeth Larkam, Ann McMillan, and Chrissy Romani-Ruby. After working in St. Louis for a few years, she moved to Chicago to attend Columbia College, where she is currently a graduate student pursing a master’s degree in dance/movement therapy and counseling.
Elise is an advocate for integrating the body, mind, and soul. She has found that Pilates, dance, yoga, and GYROTONIC® are means through which this can be achieved. In fall of 2016, thrilled to discover that Roots of Integrity shares many of her own values and goals, Elise joined the ROI team to share her passion for movement with the clients and staff of ROI.
